William Gordon

Today we remember William Gordon, Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders, who was killed near Ypres on 29th October 1914.  He was the son of William & Isabella Gordon of 18 Cullen Street, Portsoy.

Come along to the Salmon Bothy on Sunday 26th October at 2.30pm and hear how the discoveries we made while researching Portsoy's war casualties and others involved in the war effort. This is the next in our series of WW1 related talks.

WW1: The Home Front

The first world war had a profound impact on the local community, even on those who weren't involved in fighting. Find out how people in Portsoy responded to global events back in 1914. Annie Scott gives the next in the series of WW1 themed talks on Sunday 19th October at 2.30pm, Upstairs at the Bothy. Her presentation, entitled "The Home Front", will focus on how local people contributed to the war effort and how the Great War affected their lives.
The admission fee of £3 includes refreshments after the talk.
